The Book

Tucson Spokes is a coffee table book reflecting the culture of the cyclists and cycling community in Tucson, Arizona. Photographer Chris Mooney and designer Stefan Walz have collaborated on a project that produces an eclectic mix of Tucson cyclists and the scenic beauty of Southern Arizona. The photos on this site are the property of Chris Mooney Photography ©. The book is now available for purchase with an electronic version available in January 2012.

The Designer

Stefan Walz is a graphic designer with a passion for creativity and cycling. With degrees in Sociology and Fine Arts, his education is evident in that he is both a people-person as well as an award-winning artist. Stef is a model parent and your typical “see you after my ride, babe” cyclist husband. Raised in the Pacific NW, he has seen first-hand the results of an effective cycle-friendly environment and envisions the same for his adopted city. Stefan is a military veteran and the proud husband of a member of the Arizona Air National Guard.

The Photographer

Chris Mooney is a Tucson native and an adept and innovative professional photographer. He is recognized internationally and on a national level for his commercial work with El Tour de Tucson and has collected numerous Tucson Advertising Federation awards. His editorial photos have appeared in publications such as Sports Illustrated and People Magazine, and he especially excels in business and executive portraits. Mooney is an active small business owner and the proud father of two adult children.
